Essential Tools

http://www.missionmarketingtv.com/essential-tools/

If you work at a small nonprofit you may have little or no marketing collateral. You know – those things like brochures, newsletters or an annual report that can help you sell your organization’s mission to funders.

I’m here to show you that creating professional marketing collateral is easy to do and won’t cost a lot of money.  In fact with just a few computer tools and some creativity you can get a lot done.

If you don’t have these things – get them. They are the barest essentials.

A Super Suspension

I'm going to temporarily suspend the "marketing Juggernaut" for Mission Marketing TV for the weekend. Oh, there may be some more posts if the mood strikes but the Super Bowl is sucking all the air out of the marketing room. I have a number of great videos to talk about, but it will have to wait.  I'll get back to my regular marketing schedule on Monday!

Google Analytics

I've been looking at my Google Analytics for Mission Marketing TV. According to GA I've had no visitors for the past few days. I know that's not right so I got some fresh code and dropped it into my footer. Like magic it's tracking visitors again.

Introduction to Mission Marketing TV

http://www.missionmarketingtv.com/introduction/

I’ve been working for non-profit organizations for more than 12 years, much of that time in development.  But I also have a background as a reporter and writer so marketing communications is one of my passions.  Marketing communications helps to support and advance almost all parts of a nonprofit but it’s especially true for development.  Marketing communications is important to fundraising efforts weather its grants, special events, direct mail, web giving, email solicitations or other fundraising.

Medium to large nonprofits can afford to allot some resources to marketing communications.  Small nonprofits often don’t have the resources to produce the marketing collateral necessary to kick an organization up to the next level.  How does a nonprofit get the word out about all the good work they are doing in the community?  For small nonprofits it’s a catch-22. Most of the time there’s no money for marketing materials – but at the same time it’s difficult to raise significant funds without some marketing materials.

About Mission Marketing

The goal of the Mission Marketing web site is to provide information and education on marketing communications best practices to small and medium sized nonprofits to help them grow and better fulfill their missions.

After doing some freelance marketing copywriting and designing I got a job as grant writer for a nonprofit. I was amazed at the number of grant applications that required marketing materials as attachments. I soon realized that well produced marketing materials confer legitimacy and stability to the nonprofit. Marketing materials help organizations look real and make the grant maker a little more comfortable with simply giving money to someone they may not know or may have never seen.

Large organizations can afford to hire a freelancer or even a full-time staff member to produce the necessary marketing materials. Small to medium sized nonprofits are operating on shoestring budgets and can’t afford to produce and then update the full range of marketing communications. Most grants fund programs and services but not marketing. So, many small nonprofits find it difficult to grow and move to the next level. And so it becomes a self perpetuating cycle. Not large enough to hire a person to produce marketing materials so therefore cannot compete for grants to get big enough to hire someone to produce marketing materials. If you are running a small to medium sized nonprofit, you are already stretched thin and probably don’t have time to design and write a newsletter, create brochures, update the website or send out a monthly email message.

I want to provide real solutions to busy nonprofit professionals and say that creating high-quality marketing communications is easier than you think. Just stay tuned to this website as I add more solutions because Mission Marketing is all about nonprofit marketing made easy.
